I got this peice of wood from my grama's forest one day and I kept it because it was so cool. I thought it would be interesting to see this peice compliment the backround of a forest so I used my back yard where there is some small forestry. It was really annoying because in the backround cars would drive by the nearby road and I would get these strange headlight-blurs in the backround.

Editting in no particular order:

-Crop
-Unsharp mask
-Desaturated blue and cyan columns because the sky was originally a non-peaceful blue
-Increased red and yellow color balance for brownish tint
-Dodging and burning
-Cloned out some distracting things
-NeatImage
-Resized...

Congratulations on your top 20. Indeed a spectacle with a richly textured foreground and that dreamy background.

This is a very interesting shot. The focus is great and the background compliments the subject nicely. I could see this shot being used in print. Can't find a thing wrong with it. Bumping up to 10.

Absolutely wonderful framing! The texture and shapes are beautiful and the shallow depth of field reduces the background to an almost abstract series of vertical shapes. Certainly in my top 10 in this challenge.

It is a good idea, however, I think that the background is too dull and does not add much to the overall composition (5)

I realy like this shot. I feel that the Brokeh realy enhances the image. I also realy like the framing. You have a wonderfull texture in the wood. You are also able to see the wood grains and shapes well. The picture however is missing a center of intrest whaile a wonderfull shot theres nothing in the window. I feel that this is the onlything wrong with the photo. It lacks somthing to keep interested. While I don't think this will ribbon without a center of intrest I imagine it will still do pretty good. It is a good axample of brokeh, and is good in all other aspects.

Keep up the great work

this is awesome if you turn your head to the side I can see an apes face almost :) maybe an orangutang, what a great emotional feel to the whole picture just wish I could put my finger on what is not quite right with the depth of colour, but saying that I know from experience people see different shades depending on their monitor a good (7)
