Very powerful image. One must take more than a minute to really appreciate what you have captured here. Incredible color balance, and obviously a tremendous amount of patience.

If your horizon was level this would be perfect!

Lightning shots are just so powerful to look at. This is lovely, and I like the blue/black coloring that seems to contradict the "heat" of the lightning. The horizon feels tilted to me, just a tiny bit, but then again it's so very early and I haven't had coffee yet, so it could be me!

Great composition and subject matter. Lighting and detail are good, rich in color without being over-saturated. I am waiting for the day when I can try my hand at shooting lighting. Minor uneven horizon, but took nothing away because of it. ((8))

Having spent a good deal of time trying to catch lightning, I have oodles of appreciation for people who do this successfully. You need a slight CCW rotation to level out the ground. The colors are amazing, and I like the way you cropped. Very, very cool image. Hats off to you. 9

i'm going to have to come back to this one. for the moment, it feels like the horizon is slightly tilted and that it's a bit too dark at the top. otherwise excellent capture.
01/21/2005 09:31:15 PM
Wish I could get a shot like that

I'm a big fan of weather shots such as this. This is a great picture with superb colors. sloping horizon is a little distracting IMO

Awesome, AWESOME picture!!! I love the blue tones, and I HOPE you told how you did this because I've always wondered how to capture lightining. Do you have to use the bulb setting? Or just get lucky? No hesitation here to give this one a perfect 10.

Cropping to straighten the horizon would help a lot on this, even if the horizon isn't straight in real life. A great capture with lovely depth of colour in the blues.

I like lightining images and this is one of the best I have seen. I've taken some and I've seen lots of good ones. This rates as a super lightning shot. It is well post-processed and just a great capture. The only defect is that the horizon is not level. I'd correct that for what will make an incredible print!

Great shot, i love these... Unfortunatly this year i haven't had any lighting over here, just waiting for it to happen.
I really like the contrast of the city with the lighting seems like the city is so small and the lighting huge...
Great capture.

Great image, but I would have cropped slightly to fix the slightly tilted horizon.

This is great. I`ve always wanted to capture lightning but don`t get it here very often. Maybe a closer crop would help to lose a bit of the negitive space.
01/16/2005 03:54:49 AM
Wow, the tilted horizon is a little offputting. But as far as lighting shots go this is marvellous. A nine for now, but I get the feeling this one may get bumped up.

Great job.
