Thanks for the comments and suggestions -- I did consider some of them before I submitted this shot.

There really is no more platform to the left -- that "Danger" sign is on a gate at the end of the platform. I didn't like having him right in the center, but I didn't want to crop, because I also wanted to emphasize the length and emptiness of the platform.

I couldn't really get a better angle both because of the rain (I had no umbrella), and because the guy was actually walking around quite a bit -- he was only in this pose for a few seconds. I wanted to get the shot from the back to avoid release issues.

A lone male on a platform waiting, waiting to go where? This image causes me to ponder and that is what I call a truly amazing photograph. Good work.

Overlap of figure and utility pole is unfortunate. Picture would breathe better with less foreground and more on top. Possibly if you'd panned more to the left (the wayhe's looking( and positioned him in the right third of the frame, you'd have an image that told a stronger story of waiting. Very nice tonalities.

Would maybe be better a little darker with a little more contrast I think.

Love the rain. Love the feel. Love the location. I do not love the composition. Your subject is dead center of the frame. Another crop selection may have been more effective. I would also like to see your subject a little better. I understand that you may be trying to get across the feeling of isolation and aloneness of this man, but you should have tried to get a few more shots if possible experimenting with his location within the frame. For example....imagine if you had moved the camera so that he was standing alone in the upper right courner of the picture and we could see more of the empty tracks in front of him. That kind of composition may have been a little more gripping for me. Just my 2 cents....nice job.

If the guy were placed in the far right of the frame with more of the rail in the distance this would have a better impact.

Cool idea, but I think it could be much more effective if you brought up the contrast to feel colder.
