This is a craft decoration that was removed temporarily from the wall of my parents home in order to get this shot. I thought the colors were interesting as well as the texture.

Very well done shot! What draws me in is not the spools, but the cloth they are on. This, I think, brings the whole shot together. It's this element that makes me, the viewer, wonder who is using this thread, what are they sewing, who are they sewing it for? The human element was brought in without even using a person. The spools and support they are on coupled with the grey tones in the cloth make for a wonderful subtle prop for the great colors of thread. Your choice of thread colors was great. They aren't too bright to overpower the photo, but are enough to jump out and grab the viewer's attention. Your lighting is good as well as DOF, this creates a pleasant exposure. I think the background crumple of fabric might have been relayed differently in a more simple pattern that flows better with the curves of the spools.

This is very well done and is pleasing to look at.

I really like this picture. The uneven material in the background distracts slightly from the great rhythm of the colored spools. Good work.

Cool how there seems to be grey vs color and nice use of diagonals in the composition. A smaller aperture to make all the spools sharp or a wider aperture to lock the field of focus on only one or two spools (preferably blue or red) would have given this a much greater impact.
Anyway, great photo, like the worn look, makes them look very old. Not so enthousiastic about the border, but that doesn't count.

Great repetitious pattern, and the colors are great. I like that you shot this with a diagonal rather than straight on. The objects in the background are enough to prevent a plain, boring black background, but are not enough to be a distraction from the main elements of the photo. The board that the thread spools are sitting on has lots of character, but I would have liked it better if it were wider (going into the background. The material used appears to be draped over boxes or other objects, but the object in the rear appears to have a higher elevation than the foreground, creating a small distraction behind the red spool. Lighing is excellent, DOF is good. Overall a very nice photo and I give it an 8 for this challenge. A better 'platform' for this shot would have gotten a 9 or 10 out of me! Good luck in the challenge!

The color really makes this photo work well... the monochrome environment sets the color off nicely... excellent work :) - setzler

Great colours ... they really stand out. meets the challenge nicely. I like the detail on the wood (worn out). Good job at keeping a big depth of field. wonderful. Jacko. 9

good dof... if you have a higher fstop setting and I am guessing you don't, the dof would be even better.. but nice work...good composition aand great lighting as well....

Very nice, but the border adds nothing here.

this is a great photo. i don't know why i don't like it. its very unique, and i love the color of the thread against the wood. i'll have to give you a high score until i figure out my thoughts - and then you will probably be fine - its me who needs the adjustment . . .
