It's hard to put "everything" into this photo, but I hope I covered the basics: Use of 3's and the rule of thirds, RGB, flower, macro, buggy-looking frog, shallow depth of field....

Taken with close-up lenses in studio. Used olive oil on the crayons. Learning lots about lighting and refraction. I'll get there, one day.

Hope someone enjoys my weird sense of humor and gets a little laugh from this....I did.

Low vote from me because I didn't see the inside humor--didn't add up the preponderance of macro/flowers/frogs/shallow DOF, etc that I'd seen in the challenges here--once explained, I "get" it. Well done.

Based on the comments, this would have been the winner by a long shot had everyone understood the joke!

This is great work...it exposes (and even exploits) a large part of the dpc formula without coming across as bitter or sarcastic. Very well done and it is so very ironic that you were told it doesn't meet the challenge!!

I thought the RGB/droplets/flower/macro negated any need to meet a challenge!

Thank you for all your kind comments! I knew when I entered it that it was risky...there are a lot of new members here and some who take drops very seriously. The humor isn't evident and sarcasm, even when self-directed, can fall flat. I have learned much with my "drops" photos and will probably produce more when the mood (or excuse) strikes me.

Many asked what the little eyes were and where they came from. I'll post an image to explain soon. (Just a little busy today with Yellow Revisited.)

I was sure you would ribbon with this entry. Apparently, based on the comments, a lot of people didn't get the sarcastic humor of your entry. It is still a winner in my book!

Very cute! I like this a lot... I'm sure it actually took a lot of work, and it paid off with a very good image.

WOW! Great image! I'd think this one deserves an eleven...but only in some other category than humor. The technique and colors are dynamite! Just the images in the drops are too small to carry the humor to me...at least on my monitor. I think there may be little bunny or bee faces or whatever there...but I can't make them out for sure. So with that in mind...an 8.

Very nice composition and detail. Possibly oversharpened a tiny bit. Nice work. One of my favorite in this challenge.

I wonder how many people won't get the humor. I love this shot. It is done excellently, except for the slight over-exposure on the green crayon. I'm trying to tell what is in the water drops. I can see the flower, but what is in the center? My assumption would be a bug, but I can't tell.

My top pick of the challenge. 9

nice shot, if a little derivative of others, but not immediately perceptible as 'humor' to me.

well that's a bit deep.
little characters on the flowers
legally made? the red BG ( all red ) in the drops makes me think otherwise.

Clever, on several different levels, and a great photo as well. Can see a ribbon here assuming people get the humour.

This has to win. It is the only great photo with great humour I've seen so far in this challenge. Another example of a great photo with a great title...

I give it a 9.

water droplets, crayons, flowers, oversaturated, oversharp...where's the bug macro? if you coulda perched a dead bug onone of the crayons, it'd get a ten. instead i'll punish you with a 9. You should be ashamed. ;)

What exactly is the reflection in the drops? I see the flower and there's small (very small) faces. It's a beautiful shot and I will still rate it pretty good but I wish I could see the faces a little bigger. Very nice work overall!
