 View from our veranda at 5:30am as we cruised up the Thames towards Greenwich, guided by one tug at the bow and another at the stern. We passed between two similar structures with only a few feet to spare, or so it seemed!

This is the visible part of the system that is activated to prevent flooding upstream (including central London) at unusually high tides.
