Wow, that was a tough one! Not sure I could have found her(?) if I didn't read your comment. Great shot.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

COMPOSITION... The photo has very strong compositional elements... The path is placed on the lower 3rd of the photo, and the eye naturally follows it from one end to the other. Trees are sometimes difficult to arrange in a pleasing manner, but here they are at even spaces away from each other, and I like how dow the road, two branches almost seem to meet and form an arch over the roadway! Nothing else clutters up the picture... As for the person, as a standalone photograph, if an element like this is too small and obscured to see, then I don't find it does much for the photograph, and can even hurt it in fact - since its something that doesn't have to be there - if an element can be removed without it seriously affecting the mood and strength of a photo, then its extraneous and shouldn't be there. But challenge-wise, without it the photo could have scored lower. I think its the nature of the contest that caused all these small elements to be in photos that didn't need them.

TECHNIQUE... Great choice of black and white.. might not have been as strong if you stuck to color. The contrast is just excellent - adding an extra punch to your image. Sharp, clear image, and neutral, effective border...

OVERALL... An excellent shot!, Congratulations on your first place win!

Against all my instincts the photographer's comment makes this shot for me. :)

I like your perspective, and the trees have a beautifully aged appearance. It reminds me of one of my favorite places on earth...the Bronx Zoo. www.wcs.org. Nice comp, well exposed, good choice of b & w. Good luck!

Ah, I like this one. Waldo blends into the texture of the photo nicely...which to me should be the goal of this context. "Waldo" isn't obvious, but you're sure you've seen him once he's found. Image could use a bit more contrasat, and focus seems a bit soft...but otherwise well done. I like the composition...seems to pull you down the path.

The person here is quite well hidden, though I can see him against the light. This is a very nice shot.

Fairly good job of hiding Waldo. Didn't spot him immediately. But still too easy for my satisfaction. But it is a really nice black and white. I love the trees lining the road (?). Curiosity - are those posts places for the people to tie their horses in the olden times? That's what they appear to be. I really like this photo. Nice one.

This is a wonderful photo, I love it. Even Waldo hiding in the middle there doesn't spoil it at all. Good shot!

Beautiful Black & White Photograph. Has an excellent mood to it. The eyes focus on that large tree to the left, take me all the way up the path to the light at the top and follow the tree's all the way back down until I spotted you. Excellent shot.

challenge met. what a beautiful shot. b&w is perfect here, your eye is just leisurely led through the photo ... and right by the person. the girl fits well into the shot, not exactly hidden, but not prominent either. my favorite so far :)

Beautiful shot. Very well composed. Wonderful use of BW. Building in the back is a little distracting, but still OK. Person is very well hidden. One of my picks for top 3. 10

Nice shot. It is very moody in black and white. I'm 99% certain I can see the person - subtle yet also nicely centred. I like the way the road leads you into the photo, whilst the building and nearest light pole provide points of interest. Well done.

The only thing I'm not really fond of here is the end of the road. If it were out of sight, I'd love this shot. Good job.

I almost submitted a similar phot. I like this very much. Good job of hiding the person as the challenge called for while still taking a good natural photo. B+W was a good choice.
