Challenge: Square Crop V (Standard Editing)

Aperture: 1.2

I was taking shots for 'In the Marketplace' and this out-take worked well as a square crop. (In the marketplace was minimal rules and this shot wouldn't have worked so well without the tighter crop)

I like an image where I can see a title and perhaps a story...

Greetings from the Critique Club!

I agree that the square crop works well for this image. Cropping it a bit more may help though, as the drawer and blurry handle at the bottom of the frame are less interesting. I do like the balance brought by the zig-zag line created by the boxes though, so I am torn on this point. Especially since the focal area is roughly a quarter of the composition. Maybe the rule of thirds (rather than fourths ;) ) would have helped with the votes.

I love the focus on the hand and "Love" pendant. The clothing shows me winter and offers a holiday feel. While the pendant reinforces the theme. It did take me a minute to realize what the pendant said ... holding it more toward the "L" might clear that up a bit. The B/W approach is wonderful. I imagine that all the colors of clothing and jewelry might make the shot a bit busy. Solid choice.
