So, the Universe has such a funny way of kicking your butt into gear....
Except for regular architectural photography for real estate, I have not been inspired to shoot creatively since the end of last year. A very fortunate outing to visit my wolf rescue friends a few weeks ago fortuitously resulted in a winning image. But otherwise, nothing, nada.
Then the "people with their dog or cat" challenge was posted and I knew the Universe was talking to me. Loudly. So I posted something in FB about any locals with cats or dogs wanting to shoot with me, and got over 20 responses.
I did several shoots, and they were all wonderful, so it was really hard for me to choose. So many really fun images. But I chose this one because it was the only cat. And cats are the toughest type of pet to shoot, because, well, they're cats. Right Wendy?
Well, except this one...
This is Lauren (you may recognize her from  and  and  . She posted that she had a rabbit, a turtle, some snakes, and Sasha. And sent me some photos - one of them with Sasha in a paper bag. And it seemed immediately obvious that he image we'd do was with each of them in their own paper bag.
I told her my idea and she called me up, laughing.
Sasha, it seems, turns into a fur pillow if taken from her home. Lauren can put her anywhere and she will be immobile. It didn't seem likely that any cat would act that way, but we set up the shoot. I enlarged Lauren's bag to accommodate her, set up the lights, took some test shots, added the other bag with Sasha - who indeed just sat there, and after 15 shots, we were finished.
It's the fastest pet shoot I've ever done. 30 minutes from arrival to departure. And I got EXACTLY what I envisioned. Thank you Laura and Sasha!
