Wow, first ribbon ! Thanks to all for the great comments and rating.

I can understand the comments about a wider crop, and there was indeed more space on right side and below. It was my choice (possibly not the best) to emphasize light and texture. With a wider crop, this was more 'one more dune picture'...

Hey Michael, congratulations on the Yellow for this beautiful landscape. The sand is turned to a gold masterpiece sculpted by the wind. I think I might know why you're getting comments about a wider crop--the slanting lines on the right are strong leading lines, leading to nowhere. We read from left to right, so those lines are leading downward, to the edge of the frame. It's a slightly uncomfortable experience. I wonder what would happen if it was flipped. Then the lines would be leading upward, into the picture, creating a more comfortable viewing experience. Only a suggestion, Michael. It's beautiful as is.

I whink my eye wanted this to be a little bit wider, but nevertheless a stunning picture and a well deserved third place.

Congrats!

Thought this would do well. Congratulations, perfectly processed.

Edited to add; It's funny others mentioned the composition also, I felt the same too, but I didn't want to spoil the mood :-)

I feel like the comp could be shifted to the photographers right a little but maybe that was not possible. The textures are excellent but would like to see a little more control of the brightest areas.

Gorgeous color and textures with raking light accentuating all the right things. I might consider cropping the left side and the top to focus on a single ridge line.
