Preparing for this challenge, I didn't figure out how to create a photograph that would look like an impressionist painting, or at least that is what I interpreted the challenge to be about. So, I took some shots of everyday activities and decided to try my hand at some art filters which I had not ever investigated before. So I found Topaz Impressions to be the most usable for my tastes. I knew full well I would probably receive some comments and/or low votes.

Even knowing this result to become reality, I hesitantly entered the image and was prepared to have it take the DPC voting roller coaster ride. Which it did. An hour before roll over, my score dropped by a 1/3 of a point, same thing happened last time I entered a challenge. I was also prepared to have my image DQ'd. I know I pushed the rules to the max but hopefully not beyond. 4 years ago I would not have even considered using a filter like this. But moving around pixels or paint, I feel it's the same thing. So that is why I entered and knowing I would accumulate some low votes. Art is more important than stats or what anyone else thinks about it.

Thanks for all the great comments and votes, always appreciated.

This is really lovely and very appropriately impressionistic. Its has the characteristics of both a photo that has been processed with filter AND the look of a painting that's been photographed.

Impressionism is a challenging topic for a photographer. Your colors and technique are excellent. The subject matter fits the era as well. You got my highest mark (8) for this challenge.

This is the winner. Really enjoy watching this painting. All the pieces come together with that fishing rod. An 8 from me

This is exactly how I imagined an impressionistic picture -- very well processed- love the vivid colours - 9

Relies on a photoshop filter to produce its entire value in meeting the challenge: 1.
