A great big white steer staring at me as I crouched on the other side of the fence from him and his herd.

Post-challenge: yep, been quite awhile since I've been asked for validation - I saw that before I saw the HM! So happy that I wasted an hour or so shooting this big boy and his herdmates :-)

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge

What a gorgeous beast! A lovely 'in yer face' portrait of a lovely animal, good focus on the eyes and good DOF to get the muzzle nicely focused too. I see you're definitely in high-key mode with your recent entries, whilst it serves to create a more unique image I feel its just borderline slightly overexposed, there is some loss of detail in the whites around the muzzle and his flanks below. Perhaps I'm being over-critical but for me blown highlights are something to be avoided at all costs. Having said that I love the detail in his fur especially around the top of the head and ears it makes him look so adorable. This brings back fond memories of a similar shot I took a long time ago and she has since become my avatar. Anyway, congratulations on the high score and HM, well done Susan.

He looks quite mean and I would not like to be on the other side of the fence. Nicely captured photo - congrats on the HM!
