A three-shot HDR, hand-held, with the Soviet 85mm f/1.5. Shot somewhat precariously from the top of the TV tower between Pattaya and Jomtien Beach. Aiming to capture the subtle interplay of blue and green colours in the tropical glow shortly after sunset.

Not very happy with the noise at ISO 12800, but it's incredible that it was possible to do this as a hand-held HDR shot at all. The noise required selective noise reduction to various parts of the image, in order to maintain detail in the buildings and foreground while suppressing it in the sky and sea, and the blue noise in the sky even needed a bit of gaussian blur to tame it.

Editing: Alignment and HDR combination of three shots using Mantiuk08 algorithm, healing of hot pixels and cloning a few HDR ghost edges, selective noise reduction, curves, selective gaussian blur, no dodging and burning for once, resize and sharpen.

Hello from the critique club

An interesting landscape that meets the challenge well.

I can see why the scene and colours appealed to you it certainly has plenty of potential. I think its a shame you didn’t have a tripod with you, I do agree with J9 there is a lack of clarity throughout as a result of the hand-held slow shutter speeds and the high ISO, under the circumstances you’ve done a pretty good job but, as you know, there is some tough competition here. I actually think you missed a creative alternative here to create a high ISO abstract with deliberate soft or out of focus shapes to create an impression. Unfortunately, what you have here is an obvious attempt to make the best of a difficult and challenging situation that hasn’t quite hit the mark.

Lacks clarity/detail...IMO your buildings in the foreground should be sharp in focus...
