When I showed this image to my mom, she got real quiet, her eyes shimmered and she whispered..."he's still in there".

That is why it's my "best".

"Wish there was more contrast to really make it wonderful!"

...you see, it's not that sort of light Lydia. It was a late summer evening back in the shadier garden, no direct sunlight to speak of as it was settling in for the night. All 10 zones are present, so there isn't a lack of tonal range or contrast really. It's just a more quiet sort of portrait, a more quiet sort of light. Sometimes I wish you would stop searching for flaws in everything you look at and see things for what they are, especially the light.

just to add - after reading your patient notes: there is so much meaning in every gentle nuanced tonal variation. if we cannot groove to that we need our wax removed.

Thank for the background comments. This is a remarkable portrait that told me important things about a person I'd never met or seen. Even the simple title adds depth. Thanks for the glimpse into your best... And perhaps into yourself.

Glad I'm came back to look at your placement. Your photo left an impression on me and I wanted to read details. Highly emotive. 10
