 One of two Elk that had been fighting for territory, this one was the loser as he walked away into the fog. The two Elk were a lot of fun to watch, for the most part they would just stalk each other, they did lock up one time but they had a small tree in the middle so not a great photo-op but a good show and if you have never heard Elk Bugle it is an amazing sound.

To me it is very interesting to see how images are perceived especially when they involve wildlife, if you look at an image like this as a wildlife image then you need all the "rules" to apply, if you percieve it as a scenic then you do not get hung up on the Rules and can decide if you like the image or not based on overall appeal. This is an image that appealed to me personally for a couple reasons, first of all I was lucky enough to be there to see the action and know the story so I have a little personal attachment. Secondly I love the fog and how it interacted with the animal and the landscape.

Wow I really like this photograph, they can see how cold it must have been by the steam coming out of its nose. The composition focus exposure and everything about this photograph is very nice.
