Just barely got my entry in before the deadline. Most of the work was done but needed some finishing touches.

Wonder if the joke will go over well. Technically it's a book (an audiobook) and would share the same general cover as a the regular book.

However, when making a book about DNMC, the entry itself had to be borderline DNMC, right? So the idea came to me and then I realized I had no 8-Track tapes in the house. I see them all the time and never had need for one. So set out Saturday to an antique store, surely they'd have one. But they were already closed. So we went on Sunday to a couple. One had gone out of business and the one from Saturday was open, but not an 8-Track to be found. My other target item was a shoehorn which was going to fit on there as a "Free Study" shoehorn, but while I found one, they wanted $3 for it and I'd never need it again. So I laid it against a napkin, snapped a shot with my iPhone, but then never ended up using it in the image.

So anyway...

Dick Loudon is of course Bob Newhart's character on "Newhart" and he wrote how-to books in addition to running the inn. So he had to be the author.

The obvious DNMC entries were all quick snaps, except the graduation photo which I took Saturday at my nephew's (that's not him in the photo). The stormtrooper and adding machine were from the same antique store and just snapped in place or against some fabric.

The main joke is about an Audiobook existing on an 8-Track tape at all. And an audio book about photography too!. The logo has the TRA and CK on separate lines as homage to the annoying trait of 8-Tracks switching channels in the middle of a song.

Oh, and I never found an 8-Track tape either. As my stand-in, I cut a template from cardstock and folded it and taped it to be 3D. Then I took that picture against a black backdrop so I could remove the background. The background in the photo is the antique store I was in.

Anyway, we'll see how this goes. It's already 12 after rollover, so I'm curious how the first votes are going. :)

Well, darn... it took 17 minutes, but the first two votes average 5.5. Would love that to be a 1 and a 10, but who knows...

Sitting around 5.8 (5.79-5.81). Ho hum. Another proof to not bother with too much effort to create that perfect photo (to me, not that they ARE perfect) I see nothing here that should score it lower than a 6.

Ugh. Just realized I should have restored the shadow of my thumb on the tape as well as darkened the end label more.

This is brilliant. Extra point because I would buy this book. Although maybe not on 8 track.
