- Guybrush? Guybrush Threepwood?
- The mighty pirate himself!
- Well I have some mighty bad news for you.
- Haha! What's that? We're out of beard conditioner?
- Guybrush, LeChuck is back!
- No, that's impossible! Not again!
- In fact, technically, you're right.
- Glad to hear that!
- He's got a baby.
- Woo... and you're so afraid of a little baby?!?
- This one is different... he's got strange powers... and needles...
- Needles! Hahaha. I've got my faithful sword just there, I can't see how needles could...
- Could what?
- My... my head...
- Your head what?
- It's... Oh no... I... LeChuck... Arrrrrrgh!!!
- Told ya.

If you don't know the old "Monkey Island" video games, believe me, these are simply fantastic, and I enjoyed them immensely when I was a kid. Clever, full of adventure and humor, such a great cocktail. I wanted to spend some time again with those heroes, so I decided to disguise my little daughter baby Emilie as Guybrush's new opponent, while posing myself as the mighty pirate wannabe! If you've played those games, you probably recognized the cover of the second installment of the series.

Technically, since pirate ships are relatively rare nowadays, and since building one in my garden would have required a rather big budget, I opted for a photo composite. I used about 70 different photos that I mainly shot in my home-studio to create this scenery:
- About 35 of them are photos of various pieces of wood and ropes to create the boat itself.
- The main pirate required about 25 more shots: face, hands, several costumes parts, hat, feather, beard, skulls, doll and its accessories, bones, and of course needles!
- The rest was photographed for the character in the background and for the sky.

Assembling everything together took a fair amount of time (around 40 hours altogether) but I enjoyed every minute of it. I even bought the original games again (they've created new editions of them a few years ago, with updated graphics and voices) and it is great fun to revisit them, as well as remembering how was my life like at the time. Thanks a lot for watching and for the kind feedback, much appreciated!

ADORED Monkey Island series, great to see it re-created in a challenge.

The minute I saw it I thought the theme was familiar but didn't think it would be Monkey Island until I saw the name Gybrush! Didn't think anyone else was as mad about the games as me to think back on them.

Nicely done, great photo and all that, but even better theme ;-)

Need to go get myself a copy and kill a few hours.

Thanks a lot! Yes we are having much fun, can't wait for the next project :-) The title was drawn by hand, so it is not an existing font. The author was written with "Treasure Map Deadland".

Superb as always. I will have to check out these games - being a game developer it may offer me some inspiration.

What happens when you combine Disney Caribbean piracy with Voodoo stereotypes? You get the story of a toddler who becomes captain of a sailing vessel by the deft use of hatpins. Unfortunately, his only ambition is to accumulate Cheerios, which makes the rest of the plot rather dull.

Ha very good indeed. Great to see your little man having another leading role in one of your wonderful creations. Very creative as always with such perfect attention to detail and some humour thrown in too. The lighting and the colours are perfect. Would work well as a DVD cover too. Very impressive!
