He is 86 and as active as ever. rain or shine. He always smiles when he takes a photograph.
On May 6 I went to see the progress of the blossoming wisteria at the Conservatory Garden and to my great annoyance the garden was closed for the day for some annual fundraising luncheon - a special day for well to do ladies to go, check book in hands, wearing their spring made -for-the-occasion attire, hats and high heels. I saw this spectacle numerous time and was ready to turn my back when I spotted Bill Cunningham hopping like a squirrel, dressed up and sporting his two Nikons like a scarf. A little chat here, a pat on the back, another broad smile; he is all sparkles. I doubt that he saw me taking his picture, he was too busy and the ladies were more than happy to be photographed by him and having a nice little chat. I totally forgot to buy the paper the following weekend to see what he shot but found this i=on the internet:
Luncheon.
I'll post later more of my pics taken in those 15' or so when I was there but until then, here is when I saw him:

In his element. No place he'd rather be.

A beautiful portrait but the lady wearing the red jacket detracts a little. I see some forced perspective going on. Did you try black and white? Might be able to make her blend more with his surroundings. I do like this in color so maybe desaturation would work too.

All in all a very nice image. Just some random thoughts that came to mind.

Great picture. Great story. I saw the documentary on him many years ago. Would have thought he was long gone. But as I think about it- he gets a lot of exercise and loves what he is doing- probably a recipe for a long life.

The background guy is a distraction, of course, he's practically glued to the front of the lens.
But he's a good distraction. Just reminding us that it's not all about the photographer.

Funny. The background figure is either a distraction or needs to be clearer focus and maybe more engaged. Just a thought.

Crikey! I thought he was ... well, gone. So happy to see that he isn't at all, and still firing delight at the world. Thank you.

Normally pictures of photographers are just pictures of photographers, but I really like his enthusiasm and intensity. It's contagious!

Great shot! Such a legend! Is he smiling at his subject or of you taking his photo? :)
