FIRST IMPRESSION: Elegant and simple. Proves that a photograph does not have to be complicated to be appealing. Striking color.

CHALLENGE: Unqiestionably meets the challenge.

COMPOSITION: At first glance, this photograph proves that you can break the rules and still have an effective composition, as the door and large window are almost centered left to right. This is not a criticism, though, as it works in this composition (in fact I think anything asymmetrical would fall short, the symmetry is what makes this shot). The rule of thirds is evident in the "13" as well as the placement of the doors and round windows. The inclusion of half of the round windows at the top of the frame is an excellent choice, as it adds visual interest to the top of the frame.

TECHNICAL: Your color is strong and vivid and really grabbed me right away. I think your white point should possibly be a little bit lower though (the snow seems a little dark).

CONCLUSION: Excellent shot, one that I thought was deserving of better than its 30th place finish.

Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges!

Simple, but very engaging. I love the way the colors come together and kind of play off of one another. Good balance in your composition, and terrific lighting.

Fantastic colours. This photo is really interesting to me. The textures are really nice, and the composition is odd and eccentric. I like it a lot.

I can just see this building up there with the Amittyville Horror House. Very Spookie. :-)

You met the challenge and the door has some appeal. However, if you could have taken the picture at an angle, (shooting up, down, or perhaps through something) you could have had a more desireable image. John Gill

I scored this high...... i enjoy your choice of colour - the red white &blue. The selection of the elements contained in your design have been balanced flawlessly and establish formal structure which is intriguing and also agreeable. I like the dark round windows at the top...... the architectural image is transformed into a hard-edged cubic face with eyes, nose, mouth and white beard!!!!

Very nice and simple tonal and structural composition. My champion this week. Maybe a tad more contrast could still improve it.

I like it -- I think it could use some tweaks here and there -- but I like it. The horizontal lines near the bottom of the shot seem to be perfectly horizontal, but they're off just enough to notice as you look at them higher up the wall. The red and blue seems to be just a touch dark or maybe flat -- it's hard to adjust the whole photo to fix those without blowing out the snow, but since you were allowed unbounded Photoshop tweaks, that should be easy to overcome (as with the fixing the lines to horizontal). Love the symmetry, and the half windows at the top.

neat, maybe less snow leaving the windows in view....? Still I do like this shot.

this is a great photo. the colors are amazing. it is simple, yet unfortunately slightly off angle (most post-processing can correct that . . .) but still, i like it a lot.
