This was, by far, the most I've worked on a setup for a challenge.. ever. I plotted out a 21 x 22 point grid on a sheet of 22 x 28" poster board, and then glued Scotch Mints to each point using a hot glue gun. I took hundreds of shots from various angles, perspectives, and distances. What you see here is what *I* feel is the strongest of all the shots... or the one most likely to make a few people go, "woah!".

I feel this shot meets the challenge perfectly, but due to the fact that many voters simply don't fully understand what the challenge means.. I fear it will suffer in voting.. but then, that'll happen with everyone's shot.

Post-Editing: USM, Noise Reduction, brightness/contrast, curves, color balance, some small cloning to get rid of glue marks, cropping and resizing.

Congratulations! Wow if your were feeling a "little giddy" on your first ribbon, you must be going gaga now. I like your reverse strategy of 3, 2, 1. Great effort, great shot...

We WERE close in the voting! You have an excellent shot here - nice and crisp focus - great depth of field -excellent exposure for the whites. And you have so many nice lines here -the rows of mints, the rows of shadows -even the rows of shadows on shadows. Congratulations on your well-deserved win!

Strength of challenge link: strong

Image critique: Nice lighting and shadows - a little too strong towards the back though - and I think an even spread is important in this kind of shot, which is quite reliant and consistent form and appearance. The DOF is a bit too shallow also, so a longer shutter speed with focus 2/3 back would achieve full focal on all eggs.

Great choice for implied lines, is it just me or are these eggs very oddly shaped?

Cool. These look like scotch mints, but they look an awful lot like eggs. Nice lighting to create all those shadows. Highlights seem slightly blown out on some of the mints.

Wow... I am picturing you setting this one up... You've just about got it and you accidently bump one of the eggs... oh no! Start all over again. ;) So if nothing else, I commend you on your patience. Now when I look at the image itself I think, this is very very cool! I love all those interacting shadows. This is a 10 in my book. Ann
