I am blown away by the score, the bling, the faves, but most of all by the fantastic comments. Thank you all, and thank you Paul for years of inspiration! What a great challenge, I am very pleased to have done well in it. Did not get Ubique's personal thumb of honor, but I'll take the blue ribbon as the next best thing :)

Thanks! Yeah, I was contemplating entering something monochromatic and blurry but then thought, what the heck, the goal is not to imitate ubique's own photography or even taste, but make an interesting photo worthy of his comment

That's funny because I was thinking the same thing!

Lev, great capture and congratulations! Slightly leaning to her left as if the shadows are pulling her along.

The mailbox is the mediator, the guard, the nosy neighbor. Congrats on the blue. This us the stuff of greatness.

The shadows are alive. Ominous. If I were she, I'd move. But she's oblivious.

Excellent! What a find. What a scene. Incredible shadows. They are their own weighty objects here. She has just the right amount of I-don't-give-a for sitting on a bench. This is a fantastic photo.

Love this. 9 and a fav. The shadows have almost nothing to do with the photo, they're surreal and other worldly. Makes me feel like aliens are invading. And the person is so interesting to begin with. The wall is perfect. Wonderful shot!

Selective color is tough to pull off. I don't generally have the guts to even try. You have boldly done so to great effect. It helps to have such a well composted image to work with. Nicely done.

Human vs machine, doesn't get much better. The irony and satire are overwhelming, wonderful.

the secret of this photo is scale. the shadows seem impossibly big, and the woman seems overwhelmed but indifferent.

I'm hanging this in my fantasy gallery

OMG! This is fabulous. Everything about it, the soft color, the composition the ladies' hat matches the mail box! It is
brilliant and so interesting and a great tribute to Ubique.

This is an interesting contrast of contra and pro Ubique - contra in its striking detail and pro in its ambiguous implications which the viewer can indulge in. The composition makes it happen. 8

The lady reminds me of the character "Maxine" and I love her humor. One that comes to mind for this image is "At my age, I don't take naps outdoors, because people start bringing out the shovels." Great hat to match the whatever that is. Nicely composed.

can't avoid seeing that shadow as a giant bird watching its prey.

Just bloody fabulous! Such an interesting, amusing, real life photograph. I love shadows, and I love juxtapositions, and this is a classic in that quirky genre. How can we not imagine that upper shadow to be a huge mechanical dinosaur? Or perhaps an alien, sizing up a potential abduction. And the postbox (is it a postbox?) is animated into life as well. It stands tight lipped, hoping to be invisible, waiting for the strike from above. The human victim is blissfully unaware, and sees nothing. Happily, you did see. It's terrific. Thank you.

Brilliant stuff! The colors, composition and scale are very engaging. Some terrific details like the duck head cane handle. Thanks

This picture is -- and because it's so casually overused I seldom use the word, but here goes -- awesome. First, it's utterly straightforward, no added textures or tricky processing to concoct mood or heighten realism. The marvelous shadows steal the show, plummeting predatory from the left, atwitter from the standbox and slipping away on the far right. The composition is wonderful, weighted by the woman, a few inanimate objects, shadows and the lovely textured gray wall and sidewalk. The bright yellow standbox echoed in her more muted yellow hat. Her seeming obliviousness to the ephemeral drama. I could go on and on, but already have... One of four personal favorites in the challenge.

Awesome catch - that light fixture is SO out to get her. But she's hard core. She can hold her own, as you can see by the fact the shadows dare not touch her. Great catch.

I have her looking at you looking at her. I wonder what she thinks.

Beautiful coupling for the yellow colour; I don't like the widw space around the subjects but is always one of the best for this challenge
