Thanks for all the comments, and thanks to my long suffering husband. The good news is, I came up with the idea, pulled the lint, pinned it to the form and got all of the lighting set up while he was out at a meeting. Then I just had to say "ummm… Hi sweety! Can I borrow you for 10 minutes?"

So… it was a little longer than 10 minutes, but simply because he's such a nice guy! I was curious what the lighting would do as I moved it. And he said "as long as we're doing it, you might as well do it right".

Having modeling lamps with the lights really is nice!! Even though the lighting is still incredibly different when you take the shot, you see what will happen as you move the light around, move the soft box on axis (to feather the light), etc.

Someday soon, I really need to make someone sit for me for a number of hours, just to play with light. Right now I'm just getting a lighting idea and playing with something specific. I really need to just play.

I want to try out the up high and to the side lighting in this link: great lighting techniches or something like that :)

Thanks again for the comments!

Well I'd say your work with light is pretty excellent. Soft and pleasing, and I really like how the table fades into black, save its character marks. Congratulations on the ribbon.

Yes your poor husband, don't think mine would want to be as patient as yours, give him a medal, WD!

Does your family ever tire of doing ridiculous things to appease you? The wig actually has something of a 1930's flapper look to it.

This one grew on me the more I looked at it! He reminds me of Ben Franklin! Great lighting too.
