School days... I'll never forget some wonderful days of skipping school and hanging out... getting into some mischief. It's all part of the greater scheme of higher learning :)

Here is the color version of this photo:

//www.pbase.com/jmsetzler/image/35177598

I expected the comments about wanting to see it in color. Graffiti does make your mind think about color. To me, the color in this image was not particularly interesting and the image did make a nice contrasty black and white. Since we were bound by the silly basic editing rules, I could not remove the lens flare in this photo.

Saintnicholas_25: I got the impression you believe this photo was contrived from your comment. The 'try hardey' comment made me think that and the fact that you believe that a teenager would not wear clothes like this... The comment I posted with the color version explains the scene better than I did in my comment here. It's not contrived. The kid was actually painting the wall. I just happend to stumble upon the event while it was taking place, so I asked him if me minded me making some photos. He was delighted at the thought of it, especially since what he was doing is not illegal. You are right in the fact that it doesn't relate to school. I wedged this photo into the challenge with the title. I do, however, believe that it fits within the greater shceme of adolescence and the overall process of education. It's just not a 'slap in the face' interpretation of the challenge topic. It requires that the voters think outside the box and look at the bigger picture. I am fully aware that this method of challenge photo does not score well :)

how this brings back memories :p - maybe the clothing is sort of not cool well no teenager would wear that would they? - a bit try hardey if you ask me
nice use of the border by the way - without the subject in the picture and maybe just a few empty spray cans left behind and some barb wire fence fragments would make this shoot more believable and interesting - how does this shoot look in colour?

Im giving you a [4] but you leave nothing up to the imagination in this shoot which i would of loved to see, the title is the only thing which really relates this to the challenge, i believe this because teenagers like to hang in groups when doing this sort of thing and do it after school not during school

i just don't see how this really relates to school - sorry

harnessing creativity during school hours. so its all good! i like this shot, would think that color might be the way to go here though. I love looking at graffiti and the color is one of the reasons why! but i dig this a lot - 8

Good subject and looks like a piece of true photojournalism. Prefer this to shots which look really posed.

BUSTED!!! Great take on the school days challenge. I like the angle and B&W. Giving you a 8.

Only marginally within the challenge, and I think the B&W treatment doesn't work so well, when the subject is obviously so colorful. Would like to see the origional.

This would have been even better in color, in my opinion.
