Thanks friends for the many comments. Sadly, when I submitted the image I was in a rush and didn't double check for the original. Classic rookie mistake. :(

I have been carefully saving raw back ups for 7 years and wouldn't you know it I am missing 7 months in 2010 when this picture was taken.

I apologize to all for my oversight.

The picture is of a young boy from the Hadzabe tribe in Northern Tanzania. They are a khoisan people group who are amazing hunters. It is always amazing to travel to a place where people live completely disengaged from the world and the conveniences of life in 2014 and yet are full of life and joy. Africa is an amazing place and I am privileged to live here...

I love this more the more I look at it. Photography is this.

Did you capture a moment? a feeling? You captured the tension of the muscles, the momentary confidence of the eyes. We are sure the arrow will hit its mark.

I look at this photo and think no, it's not a moment, it's something more than that. Perhaps you've removed time completely. and you captured forever.

Posthumous Blue Ribbon

Great look of concentration, great composition, great DOF, great image, I'm not sure if you've used selective desat here but I do like the subdued tones. Should do well

Nice portrait. Striking lines and angles give it a lovely geometric dimension. But the focus (not yours, his) in the young hunter's eyes is the best part of many good parts. Also the sand on his skin and hair; suggests he's been down stalking something. Something unlucky judging by his evident commitment to the shot. I think it's Kalahari somewhere? That and the quality of the photography says you could well be Harvey. Harvey or not, thank you.

Bumping to a 10. This is just such a delightful photo. I find myself holding my breath in shared concentration with the boy. One to return to again and again.

I'm intrigued by this image. Stirs a lot of emotion. Especially the Guinea Fowl feather and beads. Africa!

Wonderful and amazing capture. Love the crop and that you did not try to get all of his arms in the photograph and elected to concentrate on his face the intense look. Perfect perspective in that you got down to his level.
