Challenge: Night Shot II (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Nikon D70
Location: White Tanks Mt. Park near Glendale, AZ
Date: Oct 14, 2004
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1034 s.(17min.14s.)
Date Uploaded: Oct 15, 2004

My first attempt at this type of shot, overall I'm not too disappointed, but I have some work to do on this technique.

-Cloned out a power line pole in the background
-Burned some areas on the edges because they were distracting
-Increased contrast
-Increased saturation in the blue channel
-Conservative use of NeatImage
-USM

Congratulations for your top twenty finish. This photograph is awe inspiring and worth emulating. In any other challenge your score should be in the top 5, even top 3 but there are so many strong entries this time. Hope to see your work in the winner's circle soon!

In whatever way you did it, I like the way you have picked the centre of movement. Looks different to what I have seen so far of the stars. I think it makes more interesting and better than just pick an area and point at the sky and leave it open for hours.
All the best.

I like it,
maybe better with the north star in the photo?
or just cactus, and no sign?
anyways, good shot. - 8

This is excellent. The AZ sky makes for some wonderful night sky photos. I used to live near the white tank mountains in AZ.

Great exposure! These are harder to get than they appear, I've tried. Earths rotation adds so much interest in star trails.

This has got to be an Art Rosch photo. Hi Art. Nicely done.

Excellent with the time lapse. Focus is great for such a low light subject.

I gave this a 10.
