 Walking around during our city's monthly Art Walk, I spied this young lady inside one of the art studios. I asked her mum if it would be ok for me to make some pictures. The late evening light, her beautiful hair and wonderful profile and dark skin made this a true find.

Critique Club Comment:

This is a very striking image, and I am having a difficult time finding something to say that hasn't already been said. The backlit profile is very well done. I could possibly wish for a little more light information in the back of her head to the bottom of her braids. Ultimately where this fails is in the crop - her face is just too close to the right edge. With the current 800px vertical I needed to go to about 600px wide before it no longer looked tight. But as is, she's just too close to the edge for the image to look comfortable. It bothered me enough that I gave it a 5 originally. A touch more light in the back and a better crop and this is easily an 8 for me.

I really love this. Maybe a tad more room could have been left on the right side, but that's just a small thing. Overall, beautifully lit and composed. 8

This is lovely. I really appreciate the back lit silhouette. If it were me, I'd not have it cropped to tightly to the right, but no big deal. :D 8

wondering if it is natural light or flash ...

wish it had a bit more space to the right, easily added if you feel like doing it before printing it poster size !
