I really don't like being on camera and have always had a hard time trying to smile when I know I'm going to be in a photo so I'll just insert an internet smiley here instead. :D
hehe.

I'm happy this did well. I figured if I'm going to be in the shot, why not take it at a place that's recognized from some past entries. I have my 50D with the 10-22 on the end of a fairly heavy monopod so it did make me a bit nervous trying to keep everything steady while taking the shots. Probably another reason why I have such a serious look on my face. Thankfully I've never had any mishaps there.

It's about a medium tide in this shot and the water is a bit past my knees. If the tide were really low, it would pretty much be dry ground but if the tide were really high, the water would be up to my chest.

Thanks folks for all the really nice comments and votes!

Every time I look at this shot, I'm impressed all over again.

It's a grand image, Mark, and terrific that you took a Blue with it.

It's never been a problem at this spot since the ground is a mixture of rock and sand and is pretty solid. There isn't that much movement in the water which also helps. I have shot along shorelines that have some water movement that caused my tripod to sink though.

Nah, the camera on the tripod was just set up for this shot. It was too windy that day so the water is too choppy. I'll for sure be back though. I noticed that my favorite boat is back, the one in the far background. It's been gone for about a year.

Very cool selfie Mark, featuring The Place! Did you rearrange the boats again? :)
Not comfortable with the unattended salty tripod at 5 o'clock.

Couldn't vote for this one, but I believe it's the best of the challenge. ...I may be a tad biased...but this image takes the idea of "selfie" to a new level. Well done. Here's hoping the rest of DPC agrees with me.

This seems to be one of the more interesting in this challenge. I love the serious, professional look to it. And the sort of mystery of standing in the water. The colors are really appealing as well. 9
