Thank you very much to everyone that took the time to vote and comment! Needless to say, I’m really happy this one did well, even though it’s a spot I’ve shot at so many times in the past.

I was a bit torn this month on what to enter, mainly because I was in the middle of big move and hardly had any time to get out to shoot. I’m fairly close to this location and it was really easy for me to wake up before the sunrise and see that the winds would be good for this place. I could take the short drive over the mountain and even if the conditions weren’t good, it was no problem for me to head back home and jump back into bed. I’m now living on the opposite side of the island so it will be unlikely that I’ll be able to do that much. I knew getting pictures from here would be few and far between so I really wanted to get something from here this month. This shot was taken the day before I had to vacate and I was really lucky to get these cloud formations and dead winds.

The other shot I wanted to enter was an outtake from the Clouds challenge. It’s the view I had from my apartment lanai, a view that I will really miss.

Everything about living where I did I will miss, actually…the reason why I was torn on what shot to enter.

Thanks again everyone.

It breaks my heart that you have to move from such a beautiful place. But you will discover and photographically conquer new and marvelous places. Congrats on the blue for this wonderful remembrance of your favorite place.

This is a stunner, Mark. I thought you'd milked that location to death, but here it's seen differently. Congrats!

Man-made objects in landscapes can be problematic, but here they superbly complement an already beautiful, well, seascape. What's magical is that the boats appear to be afloat in the reflected sky, with the sea floor vegetation seeming to be atmospheric too. Also well-illustrated is the rule of thirds. While the image seems to be heavier on the left, the lines of the boats and posts gently lead the eye to the brighter orange horizon on the right, establishing an overall balance. Fine stuff.

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. We've been here before and there is a risk that you start to bore us.... but, you always manage to capture so much magic in your capture and utterly pristine processing that's it's impossible not to enjoy each permutation of this scene. I think it speaks volumes in relation to your talent that you can continue to delight us with these scenes.
2. Gorgeous colours.
3. The creation of a calm ambience with such high fidelity that it makes me want to take a deep breath of the air.
4. Perfectly judged exposure - I bet this is a perfectly optimised histogram.

Will do well I'm sure. I don't normally rate pretty landscapes so highly but here; it's the photographic skill, not (just) the scene that's caught my interest.

Those boats pop man, if this is Hawaii, you're going to have to show me where this is when I'm there next month :)

I love how golden the water looks, one of the best for sure.

Edited bc of typo
