[Jan. 26th, 2014 10:19:50 PM]

So... awhile back I was doing a photo for a challenge, and had typed into the notes that it would have been even better with a gas mask.

Then I get this PM from sempermarine saying that he has a gas mask if I want one.

And he sent it!! My kids and I were incredibly excited. Both the daughter and the son wore it around the house for a couple of days, and planned out all what they wanted to do with it.

I used it for the environmental portrait, but didn't thank him in the photographers notes, since I knew it was being used here, as well. Not that there's any doubt that this is mine -- but I still figured I wouldn't advertise it too much at that point. :)

What I didn't realize was that they came in squirrel sizes!! The squirrels had a blast with them! They wanted to pose on top of a pile of garbage -- and I even went about 25 minutes down to a garbage facility (for a photo group), but I couldn't find the rest of the group, and I couldn't find garbage. Only bins that had just been emptied. So the squirrels just had to play in the backyard with the gas masks and no garbage.

They complained for awhile, because they didn't think it was toxic enough, but when I told them they couldn't wear the gas masks unless they did a shoot, they settled down and were more receptive.

Huge thanks to sempermarine!!!!! You're awesome!

Smaller thanks to the squirrels and my husband. (the husband for not noticing the toothpaste on the kitchen counter or the banana peel on the floor...)

OK, OK - I see you haven't totally abandoned the squirrels... I feel better now.

It is an excellent concept, a wonderful execution, and I love the creativity! Very well done Wendy. I am surprised it didn't finish much higher than that, it is clearly a favorite of mine in that challenge.

Good name for a band and an appropriate album cover well designed and executed. Love the gas-masked squirrels.

I always wondered what the Chipmunks would do without that controlling fiend, Alvin, to push them around...

Great idea... well done. It' s hard to imagine what music they play but I'm guessing it would be a lot of pipes and wind.

Those are the chubbiest squirrels I've ever seen.

This image itself would push a record to the top of the charts. Who can resist it? Funny and clever with a great graphic layout. The eye contact really grabs the viewer. The seemingly moldy and scratchy background is quite suitable. I like the border, too.

oh! I laughed so hard my glasses fell off, my coffee cup fell over, people were asking me if I was alright! This will haunt my sense of humor all day! Well done. The best text in the challenge, by far.
