Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Wildlife (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Lincoln, NE
Date: Oct 2, 2004
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/4000
Date Uploaded: Oct 3, 2004

Color cast, levels, smudged fog at top, but biggest change was cloning out a pelican head on left. Hope that's not too drastic of a change. Also slightly dodged and burned, sharpened.

This, along with "Fawn in Fog", were tied for my favorites of the challenge. Wonderful work, and what an eye (or just simple luck) in catching an absolutely priceless, hilarious moment.

Very nice. I love the fog, and the composition and the bird showing off really makes it great.

Nice shot. I like the negative space at the botttom and the misty look. I would have ran it through Neat Image to clean up the color noise.

The colors, texture and subject are wonderful. This is a great picture. It does need to have less negative space on the bottom cropped, or, an equal amount of skyline above to add balance. Cropped just a few inches below the last bird would have made this a 10 in my opinion.

I'm clicking through here, voting on photos, and this totally stops me in my tracks. An absolutely stunning image, I can't take my eyes off it. It's like a gathering of angels or something. I'd give you a 12 if I could.

Very original. If it had not been of all the water at the bottom I would have rated it even higer. Nothing wrong, just a bit too much to my taste.

Wow, didn't see this one till now. This is awesome. Going in my favorites. 10
I really like your crop and choice of leaving the misty empytness in the foreground, it's a gutsy move on this site and shows you have your own vision. I would be interested in seeing more photos from this shoot.

Good capture. I'd be interested in seeing some of your other misty morning shots from that morning. Shooting in mist always adds a nice dynamic to photography. May have worked a little stronger in an 8x10 crop, the added space at the bottom doesn't add to the composition in my opinion. Thanks for sharing. -danny

Very cool picture! I really love the misty ocean feel of this picture. I can just see some inspirational writing at the bottom of this, matted and framed on a wall.

Wonderful mood photograph. I like the tone of it. Nice cropping. Very catchy title. I really like by placing the Pelicans and Gulls in the top third of the photo, the fog, mist, is reflected in the smooth water below. Very well done! If I could vote you would get a 10 from me!

Wow! It makes me feel dusty. Actually it is very mystical. It's like he is conjuring the mist.

A different crop of this shot in a little better focus would have been perfect imo. As it is, it is still a great shot with a well thought out title.
