this was a fluke. I started with a dead rose head and spent a day not getting what I wanted :-(. I was SOOOO frrustrated. Then I decided to take a stroll and collect things and just play. I have another shot that I really liked, totally different to this, but decided to settle for this, because I think it looks really unusual.
Obviously this is 1 shot, dead stag horn fern leaf reflected in a black perspex. The colours must have come from the late afternoon sun, because if you look at the leaf it looks pretty drab and nowhere as pretty as this :-). Just got lucky I guess.

Hmmmm... Is there more than meets the eye? A 3D Rorschach test? 9

Simply amazing! I wish the composition was more symmetrical.

Very neat use of reflection to create an almost animalistic abstract.

this is very nice but would have been spectacular if you had cropped it evenly such that the central "face" was actually at the mid-line of the photo. otherwise it's very nice

Intriguing image. I like the color and the details where they are shown. I am troubled by the slightly blown out and out-of-focus piece in the left foreground (and to a lesser extent, the somewhat darker mirror image in the right front corner). Because the material in the left front corner is so light, my eye is drawn to it, only to be met with no detail. If that corner had been as sharp as the upper-center light leaves this would have been my favorite of the challenge. I guess the depth of field was too narrow for me to appreciate the work of art hidden in this plant. I like the choice of a dark background to set off the grays and browns.

To me, the off-center crop does this image a disservice. This is a highly symmetrical object - arguably it's strongest trait - which the current crop minimizes.
