Meh, I found a bird, I have a dog, what the heck.

The bird was stuck in my greenhouse flying around and smacking into the glass until it was stunned, hurt and probably pondering life's regrets.

So I threw a towel over it and picked it up and took it outside.

I set it on the bench and snapped a couple of very close photos, including this one:

Then I remembered the Dirds challenge, so I ran and grabbed Frankie and put her on the bench. At first, she was like "You're gonna do WHAT??"

But then she gave me a nice profile shot.

I had to desat most of the orange out of the bird to get it to match. Cloned out Frankie's collar, cleaned up the background a little and there ya go.

Oh, I also found a dead rat in the greenhouse. I was disappointed there was no Drat challenge. :P

I knew there was coming a great story behind this one, the birds feet were all curled up. I thought you had propped up a dead bird for this. Hope he made it. If you ever see a brown headed black bird with a patch over his eye. He's a tough little bugger. I shot him with a daisy BB gun in the eye and when I went to retreve the dead body he got up and flew off with one good eye.

Excellent image, Ken. Really nice composite -- you have some Photoshop skills. My single question: Why did I click the Drat link? Why, why, why? I knew it was a bad idea and could not seem to help myself.

I love the bird rescue story. This little fellow was lucky you noticed him! I also love the blending, the white collar it creates is quite believable. Congratulations on the great finish!

Not bad... The impatient attitude is reflected in both the expression on the face and the positioning of the feet.

Great blend of fur and feathers! Additionally the head to body proportion is perfect! The DOF makes it look natural.
