Well, here's a quick rundown of the processing steps from the RAW image to this.

I did 3 tonemapped versions and also used the original version.

2 tonemapped versions in Photomatix, the main one is most of what you see in the finished version but I needed a darker version for parts of the clouds and the sun.

The sun was still way too contrasty with Photomatix so I ended up doing another version in Nik's HDR that handled the sun better. I also used the original image with the oranges saturated and the exposure decreased and blended some of the area around the sun into the Nik's version. Finally, blended the Nik's version of the sun into the photomatix version to complete the sky.

The rocks are also a manual blend of the 3 tonemapped versions, mainly to get a balance between the shadows, mids, and highlights. I also did a light bleach bypass to neutralize some of the overly bright colors in the rocks.

Did a bunch of passes with DeNoise. The rocks and the little pool of water had a lot of artifacts (still do) so really had to blast it. the sky and water was just a medium pass.

Last few things…
a bit of Dodging on the far islet.
Slight S-Curve.
Some minor Dodging/Burning on the rocks.
Selective color to darken the reds and yellows a bit.

That's kind of about it. Sounds a little complicated but it only took about an hour or slightly less.

Amazing. Never thought of tone mapping different versions to combine.
