a little sharpening with this and you might have had yourself a ribbon.

AWESOME!!! Love the softness. Nothing cuter than a baby deer!!!

Hey, it's ironic that I came back to comment on this one, too. :)

I really liked this one a lot and it should've done better. More proof that this site isn't the best judge of photo quality...

This, along with misty morning maestro, were my absolute favorites of the challenge. I was really hoping to see this place higher, but I can see where people thought it wasn't as good a photo as *I* still think it is.

Crazy DPCers.

Blue Ribbon to me! :)

While normally, I'd want to see this fawn in greater detail and closer up, I think the foggy horizon is really effective in setting a mood for this shot. I like it a lot. :)

I really like this shot...the focus is just a little off or it would be a 10...still a 9 for an awesome capture

I don't know if this was intentional, but I LOVE the softness of your picture! Even though the deer is a bit blurry, it looks like it was meant to be that way. This is one of my favorite pictures! 10

great capture. you really got lucky. i'm guessing handheld, iso 800, f5, at 1/40, shot around 7am. and i'm also guessing you didn't have too many shots to pick from. way to capture the moment!

Might have cloned out the mailbox in the background

The light is great--has a very surreal painterly feel as well as the surrealness of this fawn out of his environment. This is my top pick for the challenge; I hope you do well and don't get hit for the "unnatural" environment. That's the fault of people, and it gives this more impact.

Nice feel. Not sure if the softness is from the mist or the focus. Nice compsition.

Great catch. Clearly some technical problems that come with a quick wildlife capture, but, a shot you can come back to with fond memories for some time to come. Overall, good effort.

I like this photo! Curious fawn. Fog. Great dof. Nice color. You might try cropping off some of the foreground road, and right hand side.

Beautiful - great sense of dpeth, light, fragility of the animal. And that little array of debris from the forest gives the impression that it was caught playing. I would personally have cropped the shot more than this - foreground space seems meaningless to me, and I'd certainly have lost a touch left of frame to privilege the subject some. It has the feeling of an out-of-camera original, rather than a considered presentation. A great original, but it's very rare that a shot can't be improved by judicious editing.

Tells a story.... Looks like PA! You dod a good job of capturing the range of light in the photo. Good luck!

Nice image, I love the fog? was it produced by blowing air on the lens, or is there this much fog outthere?

Good luck

If you consider the conditions, this is an excellent shot. Good work!

Very cute. Wonderful lighting and composition. If I had my choice I would have preferred the fawn was a bit sharper...but given the conditions that may not have been possible. Congrats on a very nice capture.

How CUTE. I hope you shooed it off the road after the shot. I think a slight tighter crop to remove more of the bottom part of the road would have helped. Overall this is a great shot.

is the light a pearly gate
do poor does bar your way
does this meeting come by chance
or was there heavenly circumstance?

Technically, this photo will probably get killed, but there is something so emotive about it, I say damn the rest. I give you an 8, maybe a 9; I haven't quite decided, but assume a 9.

Ahh screw it. This image done got up in my head. 10.
