Challenge: Complexity (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Paramount's Kings Dominion
Date: Sep 26, 2004
Aperture: F/22
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/8
Date Uploaded: Sep 26, 2004

There is a print available of the Reworked & Polished version of this image

This was a tough one to enter. This image seemed to walk a very thin line between complexity and simplicity.

In the end, I hope the viewers will appreciate the effort to simply capture how the absolutely complex laws of physics are represented in a roller coaster ride.

Also, even though I don't recommend it as a habit, this was shot handheld.

Pretty good composition, though I would have been tempted to crop out or clone out the lower right corner, which I find distracting. My favorite part of the photo is the abstract strong colors, and I would have been very tempted to crop closer in to that element.

Thanks to all who commented!

yes, this is the Shockwave at Paramount's Kings Dominion.

yes, i know now that i could have cloned out the bottom right corner.

the smudgy part of the bottom is a reflection, not sure what to do about that.

and, lastly, this image was also inspired by xion's Quay

Great image. Love the composition and timing + the chosen shutter speed. Would have looked evem better without that bit at bottom right. Well done.

Not sure about complexity but great capture. Suggestions: clockwise rotation 10 degrees and cropping to remove bottom right railing and support attached to loop

Cool idea, too bad it is so blurred

Cool picture! But it feels closer to simplicity than complexity. Simple arch shape on plain solid background. No intricate or elaborate details.

Ooo wow! I think this is a really good photo. Although, there is a distracting image to the bottom right that could be cropped out.

What an interesting angle. It would have been nicer if the background color were a bit richer. Good job.

I really like the sense of speed and your composition. You have chosen the right time of day to make the ligts stand out. I would have cloned out the distracting bit in the bottom right corner. Good work.
