 This beautiful male African Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus) will often perch on the same bare twig/branch so that it has an unobstructed view of the surrounding veld. Once a meal has been spotted he will swoop, catch and return to the same spot to eat. Naturally what goes in must eventually come out...

What a cute little charmer. I love how the light in his eye makes it look like he's looking right at me. The detail in the feathers makes him look so soft. It certainly looks as if that spot is a home away from home...too funny on the stack of stuff below.

Has coloring like a Robin. I'm enjoying your edicational descriptions as well as these images. This one is well done - sharp and with sympathetically colored bokeh.
