A candid of some excitable children on a windy blustery day at the beach, actually about half an hour after this, we had a severe storm!
Oh and the birds did I mention them, yes phenomenal. When we got to the beach, they were all just sitting on the beach all facing the same way, then when this family came along they decided to fly, it was breathtaking, I had my camera ready and shot about 5 or 6 quick snaps, this was the best one. So you could almost call it a snapshot if you wish!

I have to admit, I'm rather fond of this image..

Title comes from the above band 'The Cinematic Orchestra'. 'The arrival of the birds' is up there with one of my fave songs from them, they play some of the finest music you will ever listen to, it inspires me uplifts me, and it's just an overall gorgeous piece of music, do yourself a favour click on the link and play it OVER and OVER again!

The composition and movement is stunning. The birds are origami like, totally amazing. I did think of Hitchcock first.

First: congrats on the HM, beautiful image and processing. I do like the coloured one best; It gives a wider view and I think the sky is much more powerful in that one.
Second: thanks for that music link, beautiful music, definitely going to listen more to this orchestra.

In color this works for me, though Hitchcock may prefer b/w. Splendid.

Voted earlier coming back to comment and bump up.

There is something very 'down the shore' about this capture. The border works on this one - making it feel like a cross between an old photograph in a scrapbook and a polaroid. The image grain, the shift in colors due to age, and the water stains project the idea that this as a well loved captured memory of a day at the beach. Nicely done.

This image feels very alive. I love how the birds' motions are complemented by the kids. Processing is just right, wonderful tones and the overlay is very seamlessly blended. The only thing I don't like is the distracting stark white border. I understand you were probably simulating a polaroid but I think it would have been much better if it was off-white with a very slight yellow or brown tint. 9

Love the clothing of the people, that works well with the scene/mood.
