 Impetuous: Acting without thinking. Lightning strikes so fast, there is no way to think fast enough. It is here and gone in micro seconds. Sometimes leaving devestation in the form of forest fires, house fires, deaths and damage. Just the other day, I was watching the weather report and they said a storm that afternoon in eastern Colorado produced 20,000 lightning strikes in one hour!

I took this shot during a very active storm in July of 2012. It was dark, so I could set the shutter for repeated cycles of about 30 seconds hoping for a strike in the direction of my lens. I got lucky that night and captured 3 magnificant strikes. One was entered into the July FS and got a 4th place. I hope this one does as well!

I like lighting shots like this where there's no visible contact with the ground. As if it's looking for the right place to wreak havoc.
