[Jun. 20th, 2013 11:13:38 AM]

Few hours before rollover - a nice 6.86 :)

The guy in the photo is Daniel - I'm his guitar teacher. He's a great fan of the tv series and his fovourite character is really Jon Snow, so I immediately thought of him for this role.

Not an easy stuff to do: first of all I needed to find a real sword. A friend of mine, Jacopo, borrowed me a real (and expensive) one. But I needed a frozen one. Another friend of mine, Gianluca, explained me how to create a fake frozen effect. Albumen of an egg spread on the blade and then 20 minutes later sugar on it. It worked.

But I needed fire as well. Therefore I asked for some old magazines to burn to my hairdresser (Rocco) and to Omar who runs a tobacco shop.

Everything started at 4pm.
At 11 p.m. I met Daniel and Edmondo (my assistent) and we went to the sea. In summer the place is quite crowded with people so I was afraid that someone could call the police (you know - fire, a real sword etc.) but it didn't happen.

I don't wanna waste your time telling you of my issues with triggers (I am sure I have a curse about those infernal devices)... at the end of the story I'm quite satisfied of what I got!

Last but least, I'm a huge fan of the George R.R. Martin's books - IMO they are the best fantasy novels of the last decades.

---

Wow! A Blue for this image makes me soooo happy! Daniel will be happy too :)

I have to thank Gyaban for this result: I asked him an advice about the editing and his suggestions improved the photo quite a lot.

Johanna don't worry, what you pointed out about this photo is absolutely real... I could make better stuff taking care of some details, but still I'm quite excited for this win! :)

Congratulations Alessandro. I am glad if my little advice was useful, but the quality of the photo was excellent to begin with: once again you prove that planning, dedication and hard work are a key to obtain great results!

I pictured Longclaw being much longer when I read the book. However, I don't fault your image for that. Excellent image.

My favorite in this challenge. Very nicely executed and the person in the photo even looks a lot like John Snow in the series.
