I'm baaaaaaacckk...after being almost AWOL from photography for the last 2months or so, this was fun way to get back into the groove.

I ran out the door for this shoot armed with a bottle of ketchup, an old Henckel, a length of chain (not used) and apart from the clothing I already had on and gear, not much else. Location is a friend's old family farmhouse, made of stone and with thick plank flooring. And windows. Lots and lots of lovely windows so always plenty of ambient light.

One of the many rooms on the 2nd floor is this smal bedroom with two big dusty mirrors in it. I left the mirrors where they were and positioned everything in relation to them.

Overall a nice spookyish setting with the mirrors telling their own story - who are the people who wrote their names in the dust? Are they beloved family members of mine? Or people on my hit list? I leave it to you to decide.

Originally I had thought about a fearful, horrified look, like I'd just had to kill someone in self-defense. But I decided to be a snarling psychopath instead :-) The wonky angles already provided by the mirrors, the monster lighting from the slave and the downward angle of Siggy coupled with my tense crouch all add up to a horror-movie look, and I'm very glad with how it turned out.

Camera on tripod with Flash Gordon up, used remote on a 2-second timer. Mini-wide slave at the base of the tripod, the reflector behind it and angled to light me. After a few practice setups with the lights to make sure I didn't get reflections or glare, I was good to go.

pp: shot RAW, crop, brightness, minor dodge/burn and cloning, resize, sharpen, save for web

I like the lighting, I just think a bit of cropping would have done a lot for this shot. Good luck!! :)
