Well, it may be considered a shoehorn to some but that is exactly what the bird is doing. The same as extending the flaps on an aircraft. On a plane the flaps are extended to increase lift where as with a bird the primaries feathers are spread or 'fanned' out.

I didn't think I would get the shot and it didn't turn out exactly how I planned but I'm still happy with the capture. I do expect [user]hahn23[/user] might appreciate this.

Needs more depth of field but I know from my experience it is hard to capture birds in flight good effort
