I had been trying to think of something simple to do for the Biblical entry all week. I had just about give up when on the last day of the challenge I got this idea I thought I might be able to pull off. On my way drive home from work I stopped at an art store and bought a $3.50 block of clay in the hopes that my son did not have plans or too much homework that night. Having live-in models is a blessing. I set up the flash stand and umbrella in his bedroom. We took some shots of him in fetal position on the floor and some more of my hand holding a ball of clay. We were careful to make sure the angle of the flash was roughly the same for each. Then, I spent some time crudely making a composite of the two scenes. The background in the hand shots was all white and just looked blah. With about 20 minutes to deadline I started searching my random shots from the weekend for one with some clouds and dropped it into the image and submitted with a few minutes to spare.

With about 12 hours left in voting it is sitting just below a personal best. I really appreciate the great comments and the Verineat.

that is very oddly touching: your model is so contemporary, the black and white toning so classical, and the theme possibly as old as time itself. I see I only gave you a 7 - was prolly in anti-TheBook mode (comes and goes).

Congratulations Mark on the very good score and ribbon. You beautifully managed to translate the concept into your picture, and that was quite a challenge. Quite a creation, if I dare the pun.

I'm glad you were able to get this in on time, it can be a bit of a panic watching the clock count down the minutes. Great idea, nicely executed.

Wow that is pretty awesome and something I could just imagine... he just needs to be a bit bigger, but nothing is too hard for God!

Best on show 10

Powerful image. I especially like the cloud / mist in the background, and you've done a masterful job blending the clay with man's body. Do you realize that God spoke the rest of creation into being, but went hands-on when He created man?

Whoa cool!!! the hairy part of the main subject arm needs to be cleaned up (the edge) that done it would be a perfect 10

One of the best.
An actual scene from the bible as opposed to a quote or passage that I see so many doing. Well done.

Beautifully photographed and pp'd. The tones are really beautiful and well-modulated across the range. Perhaps the image could use a tiny bit more brightness. My only nit is the masking on the lower left portion of the forearm.

Nice job mixing the differing light sources in the background and on the hands. Alos in creating the composite of the clay and the person in the hands. A wonderful job of illustrating the creation story.
