This was taken on a day that reached over 43 deg C (110 deg F) in Sydney and my son was enjoying an ice-cream while soaking wet.

Here are a couple of other shots with the family trying to keep cool:

What a fun family memento. He's a cutie and you caught him at the right moment. I'm not used to seeing a holiday wreath in the same scene as someone wearing warm weather clothing :)

42 deg just isn't fair. I hate it when it does that! It's a really nice photo of your son, (and you have even colour coordinated his icecream with the house!)

I like how the popscicle matches the walls!

Remind me of my childhood in South America, ice-cream and Christmas wreaths :) Good colour to this.

Your son is a cutie. Good colors and emotion. I like the framing, but would have cropped out the screen.

Twas a tad hot over my side in Marrickville, but I stayed indoors. A nice candid.

Nice composition triangle on boy, banner and baubles and colourful but not over processed.
I'd have cropped out the fly screen and only kept the engaging door.

Three great shots - the heat must be stifling. The pool of sweat the boy is standing in says it all. (OK not sweat but still effective.)

Lovely candid! I love his expression.

Reminds me of living in Brazil and cooking a Christmas goose with the temperature at 40C! I never did get used to it.

I love the look he is giving you. It's almost like you've asked for a bite!!!

So many things to catch my interest - he has a puddle around his feet so he must have been in the sprinkler or playing wit the hose .. living as I do in California but coming from Canada, I will never get used to Christmas decorations and hot weather with palm trees - nor eating an ice-cream under an outside wreath .. lovely slice of life. :)

I love the wreath and popsicle combination - as Dennis says, it's an unusual juxtaposition for many of us. I would also like this with the top of the door cropped off - maybe just below the lock and above the flag - to reduce the number of colors and design elements.

A heat wave at christmas, quite different from what we typically eexperience here in Europe! I like how you lowered your POV to be at the boy's eye level. Looking at your shot, it seems pitch black inside. Would it perhaps have been possible to have a peek inside?

I like how the colors pull the shot together....shorts, flag, balls on the wreath...popsicle, house paint. It looks like Mom handed him a popsicle and told him to stand outside until he dried off.

The wreath and the popcicle make interesting elements, to me. What is the flag with the exclamation marker?
