Great shot!

There is something about soft, swirling smoke that can be so captivating.. like a smooth song.

You have captured that feeling perfectly.

My new theory is that the true measure of the greatness of a DPC challenge photo is how many 1's and 2's it's given in voting. Your image got 0 in both categories (and only two 3's), which means that even the idiots couldn't bring themselves to vote it down.

Your image is a true winner and one of the best shots of the last few months, period. Outstanding!

After careful examination, I can confirm this image was not created on Chaoscope, which isn't a little 3D converting tool either. It's a little 3D strange attractor rendering freeware.

I would be glad to provide my expert knowledge in this matter, whatever the subject may be (house, portrait, landscape, etc.) I am able to give you a definitive estimation of the chances for the picture to have been created on Chaoscope or not, all that for a very reasonable fee.

Cigarrette? Cigar? Candle? Incense? Unmentionable?

Regardless, I love watching smoke dance. It really is beautiful. Chaos anyone?

This is a wonderful photo, This guy Morreke is obviously some jealous person who is pissed that they didn't place in the top 3, maybe they just suck? Anyways. Congratulations on an excellent image...

Morreke, this photo has been validated, you can copy to your computer and try to invert it in Photoshop.

One of my favorites, just wish I could see the top, the rest of the mushroom. Trixie thing that smoke is.

Oh, man! I agree. You really captured it. Black smoke against a white background with really net swirls and great contrasts. Nice focus, too. The kind of image that you can really spend some time viewing. Congratulations. You're my top rating, so far.

Not suprised validation was requested (not that it would have altered my score). The detail and smoothness of this shot is quite stunning.

There are a couple of 'spots' that could maybe have been cleaned up. I hope you let us all in on your secret to success?

Very nice. I like the transparency of the smoke. The high contrast against the light background works well. It's a little busy at the top but that's only a minor distraction. Among my top picks.

returning for comments...

here we leave the realm of smoke and move to the texture of silk-like impression. Bumping up for creative effort, for it does not look like smoke but it looks cool.

I was hopjing for something similar but it's a difficult shot to get - congratulations

I had to copy it to PS and invert it to see if this was a inverted photo of a smoke or ink in water. I would have rated it with 1 if this would have been ink, but after I saw it was an inverted smoke photo I rated it MUCH higher! good luck.
