My portraits definitely need work. I had one Speedlite off camera firing through the translucent panel of the 5 in 1 reflector I got last week under my Christmas tree. I like the light pretty well and the tones. The processing is a bit harsh, but I was not going for flattering on this particular entry.

I really love it because it shows the connection to the past. The editing is right on for the subject as well. Nice

Her far-away expression is perfect - this one really tugs at the heartstrings. Nice post processing, too, not just in terms of the lovely tones but also in terms of the smoothing and sharpening choices. The woman's skin and hair is almost over-sharpened, the doll's almost over smoothed -- the result is just the contrast I think you were going for. Top three for me.

This has some nice tones to it. The vignette in the corners is a nice touch and does seem to put more emphases toward your subjects. Good job at keeping the background clutter out of the shot and putting some emotion into it. (Nice title) I hope it does well in the challenge!

What a wonderful image. I love the range of tones and the contrast is so good. It works well even for the female face.
