I think you could have thrown a dart blind folded to find something to fit this challenge. Elvis is the King of not only Rock and Roll, but also the King of songs and lyrics! He is simply, The King.

This is Red Rocks Amphitheater near Morrison CO, the most awesomest place on the planet to experience any concert you want to see. The natural acoustics are perfect. While I was shooting this scene, a lone banjo player took the stage and played a couple folk songs. Even just one banjo player with no other equipment can create an atmosphere like no other place. This wonderful venue was discovered in the early 1900's and then during the "New Deal" era, built all the seating area and infrastructure so proper concerts could be held here. New improvements continue today, but the sound stage and seating area remain pretty much the same. I have attended concerts with Yes, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Widespread panic, Norah Jones, and a few more.

My tripod was set exactly center stage. There is a line in the cement floor denoting the center. The 17mm T/S lens made this image possible keeping the lines straight, although I notice some distortion in the clouds. Not sure how to fix that, maybe a slight tilt would also help. Still experimenting with this lens.

Loving the sharpness of this lens. All the little details far away are nice and clear. I was a little concerned about that before I bought the lens. Even though the color version of this scene turned out great, I thought the monochrome version emphasized the vastness of this space better. This is two images 1.5 EV apart and blended together in Photomatix. Tweaked in CEP4 for contrast, then final conversions taking place in SEP2 and a final sharpening in CS5.

Dec 26- Well thank you for all the great comments and votes! What a great Christmas gift! Very happy this image was well received, if you ever get a chance, go see a concert at Red Rocks. A wonderful experience.

Fantastic! When did you get the TS-E? Isn't it wonderful?

What you're calling "some distortion in the clouds" isn't, really./ It's important to make a distinction between the apparent elongation of shapes at the edge of the visual field and actual distortions brought about by a lens. You have to realize that the angular coverage of the 17mm TS-E is REALLY extreme, much more than a conventional 17mm. When you're shifting out to the edge of the image circle, that's more like wjat you'd be seeing on the periphery of a 10mm conventional WA on your FF sensor.

This one fascinates me to no end, I can't work it out, is it a stadium, I'm guessing so, just wonderful framing, and a real sense of loneliness, this will be the one to beat I reckon.

I've always meant to get here, and it's hard to believe it's never happened. I've followed all kinds of bands extensively and have made it to so many venues, and despite being at the to of the list, it just hasn't happened.

It's a beautiful shot. Terrific detail in the lines of chairs. Great sky, perfect lonely man.
