Challenge: Your Final Entry (December 21, 2012) (Expert Editing)
Collection: Artworks
Camera: Nikon D7000
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Date: Dec 13, 2012
Date Uploaded: Dec 13, 2012

A very unexpected HM (now a ribbon). A lot of good images in this challenge and I was sure that a 6.6+ was not enough even for a TT. Glad I was wrong :)

I never experienced so bad a start like this. After 17 votes I was barely over 5.5... I was lost. It's an image I love, one of my best expert editing attempts, and it was scoring so low.

I hope someone got the references: the chessboard for The Seventh Sigil, but with a single player dressed in black, like the color of death. The black pawns are about to win the match and the woman is patiently waiting for her death. The sun is fading (as you can see through the window), so there's no chance to survive.

The idea came from the room. The walls could be painted with clouds or simply BE the clouds. It's a sort of last hope for the main character of this story, a last sunset to see before the apocalypse.

Thanks for votes and comments (I loved especially the second - this time even without an HM I would have been happy)

---

For Giles: this is more or less what I started from. I can't find the original image (but I already sent it to the SC ^_^). From here I created a wider wall, then I copied this layer in order to create the other walls studying the perspective to have a more realistic room (to improve it I darkened the areas where the walls collided).

I have an uninterruptible power supply. It seems I don't need sleeping (that's Christophe's secret) :)

I agree with you Alessandro, definitely one of your very best 'expert editing' entry. The concept is very interesting, and there are many ways to look at it, which lets the viewer imagine himself in that situation. Congratulations on the HM.

nice effort, would have liked to have seen less cleean areas on the walls and maybe some tins and empty containers of food etc... love the clouds, maybe some dirt on the persons legs and hands and a coloured pot of orange/yellow laying around... just would have worked better for me.. but its still a lovely attempt
