Uhhh...I definitely wouldn't say that. :)
But I would surely say that this is out of my comfort zone and I'm trying to learn as I go.

I got my off camera flash to work again so the whole set was taken with the flash. After looking at the shots, I realized that my hand pouring syrup on the pancakes casted a shadow on the pancakes. This unfortunately was on a majority of the frames. Everything had been put away by then so I wasn't able to reshoot (the shots were taken an hour or so before the deadline and I didn't have time to set everything up again.) This was taken towards the end of the set and was one of the few that didn't have my shadow in it. You can see how much syrup was pooling on the plate by then.

Thanks everyone for the votes and comments.

...Oh, recipe.
I used bisquick and followed the recipe on the box. I did add lemon extract so they're actually buttermilk/lemon pancakes.

I thought this was totally beautiful!! Love the colors and it immediately made my mouth water. You do, of course, realize that the red and blue ribbon winners have to share the food with the yellow ribbon winner... :)

Huge congrats!!

Mark, now you have to explain my wife how to prepare these delicious pancakes! The problem is that here in Italy we have to start from scratch preparing them ;)

Congrats on your wonderful blue ribbons week!

Pancakes here in England are much, much thinner and we usually have them with lemon juice and sugar. These do look very scrummy!

That looks delicious! DonĀ“t know if a neutral bright table surface would have been better instead of the pastel placemat

Yummmmm! Wonderful detail and colors, perhaps a tad too much contrast. I also don't think the milk and juice were necessary, and they crowd the image a bit. Overall, quality work.
