For quite some time, I've wanted to reshoot an old image of mine for a challenge:

You can get a large moon in a single frame with a subject on the ground (see my tutorial), but it's a lot easier to just composite using expert rules!

It's a fun example of how I've learned over the years. For example, this time I included the reflecting pool, which meant physically moving to a different spot and composing differently.

I also figured out how to merge different images with different brightness to even out the Capitol and especially the statue on top. Not automated HDR, but using a layer mask and transparency.

I shot the Capitol with my recently-repaired Tamron 17-50 at 26mm and the moon with my 70-200 at 200mm.

Redoing this is similar to the way I reshot and greatly improved

This is a great image, and that is one heck of a commenter's score, but not as good as another image. ;-P

Spectacular and special. If one is ever going to use symmetry, this is the scene. Well done! 10

I don't believe this is actually possible... but I really enjoy the edit. Really cool vision.

Great one... My ONLY thing that sorta bothers me is the moon's color, it seems to jump out and slap me in the face, like it maybe could've used ??? a slight touch of color??? Just my opinion other wise it's a WOW shot!!!
