these marks are all that's left of years of paper taped up on a prison wall

====
per sherpet's request, I will explain the title. It's from a Yeats poem.

Memory

One had a lovely face,
And two or three had charm,
But charm and face were in vain
Because the mountain grass
Cannot but keep the form
Where the mountain hare has lain.

So, the title is about memory and how eventually that's all we have left.

..and here my first thought is that "why can't I recall appropriate phrases like this".

Ironic.

Thanks for the wonderful title and image.

A naturally formed human abstract.

I guess the link between the picture and the title (sorry if this is obvious for other people, it wasn't so for me) is that the tape are the physical memories of the wall, the laying of the hare has left it's mark. I'm glad you shared the background of the image and the meaning of the title. Seems you have a bit more than only memories left... you also have a certain artistic skill.

oh darn..and I was so hoping it was a shot of a mountaintop from about 30,000 feet and the marks were bent grass patterns from the hares. Oh well I like what it actually is even more. nice find and shot.

Just looking over the voting pattern and stats. This one really skewed away from the norm. Very high commenter's average and a pretty good participants average as well. Non participants didn't quite seem to care for it much, though, which is opposite the site norm. I think you nailed this one. Congrats on a game well played!

Very cool looking abstract patterns. Almost looks like some Asian language.

You must be a poet in addition to a photographer. I like the subtle nuances of shading here.

mountain hares may be responsible for crop circles if what I'm seeing is correct..who knows....interesting shot took me a second rating this higher because it made me stop and think and really look.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I LOVE THIS BUT FOR SOME REASON IT TOUCHES MY HEART, AND KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO IT, TO SEE IF I CAN WORK OUT, HOW YOU DID IT, WHERE YOU DID IT, WHAT YOU USED TO TAKE IT, AND NOW MORE CONFUSED THAN EVER... I STILL LOVE IT, AND IT BEAT TWO OTHER IMAGES TO GET MY SHERPET YELLOW STAR AWARD OF EXCELLENCE... LOVE IT LOVE THE TEXTURES AND THE METALLIC FEELING IT GIVES ME... FROM SHEZ

PS... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE TITLE MEANS AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT YOU TELL US AND WHO IT IS AS I AM COMPLETELY STUMPED, AND HAVE NO IDEA - BUT LOVE THE RESULT.......WOW
